While it may sound a bit staid and old-fashioned, camping or caravanning in Australia can be a great way to see the country. There are numerous camping sites where you can pitch a tent - or a caravan - for the night, and there are also stacks of holiday parks that offer onsite facilities (such as showers, bbqs and laundrettes) for those who don’t want to rough it too much.

There are plenty of campsites in the outback areas, as well as on the outskirts of Australia’s main towns and cities. There is also the option of campervan hire so you can simply take a road trip without worrying about pitching a tent!
