The Great Australian Wine Experience

Leaonne Hall | Wednesday, January 14th, 2009 at 6:38 pm

Calling all Aussie wine lovers! Whether your preference is for a fruity Cabernet Sauvignon or a crisp white Chardonnay, you can enjoy a taste of Sunshine in the UK this month, courtesy of Wine Australia. With two evening events planned, both nights will include guided tasting ‘trails’ through the array of nearly 800 wines on display, led by famous characters from the world of wine, such as TV presenters Ollie Smith and Isabelle Legeron, and top Aussie sommelier Paul Green from Jamie Oliver’s restaurant, ‘Fifteen’.

The event will give you the chance to enjoy the themed walks which offer tastings by varietal (e.g. ‘Popular Pinots’ or ‘Cabernet Classics’) or by theme such as dinner party dates or the ‘green dream’ of organic and bio-dynamic wines.

You can also take the opportunity to discuss firsthand the tricks of the wine trade with the winemakers behind some of Australia’s best-known wines, giving you the inside track and allowing you to find out about more about the best Aussie wines.

Two events will be held in January, the first in Edinburgh on Australia Day – the 26th January from 6pm-8pm – and the second on the 28th January at the Emirates Stadium in London, from 6pm to 9pm. Tickets cost £25 per person and include a souvenir wine glass.
