Controversy abounds on the new I'm a Celebrity series.
As celebrities get ready to travel to Australia for the new series of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, controversy is already beginning to reign.
Peter Andre was due to travel to Australia for three weeks as a behind the scenes presenter for This Morning, however upon hearing that Katie Price, his former wife, had agreed to be one of the contestants, Peter Andre pulled out at the last minute, plunging the production team on This Morning into chaos.
Katie last appeared on the I’m A Celebrity.. show in 2004 when her blossoming romance with Peter Andre captured the nations imaginations and saw her transformation from Jordan, into Katie Price.
Peter was due to fly out to Australia this week and provide backstage gossip for the popular daytime magazine show, This Morning. He was reported to be looking forward to returning to the jungle. However in a last minute deal, Katie Price was lured onto the show in a £350,000 agreement. Once Peter found out he told This Morning bosses that it would be “totally improper” for him to comment on his ex-wife’s jungle antics and possible flirtations with other contestants. ITV bosses are now desperately scrambling to get another reporter for the show which starts on Sunday night.
The £350,000 deal could also cause tensions between Katie and the other contestants who are reported to have been given around £60,000 each, a fraction of what Katie will receive. Some celebrities have already called the sum “unfair”. It is a record amount paid to any contestant starring in the show.
Peter also criticised Katie for jetting out to Australia when her severely disabled son Harvey is still battling swine flu in hospital.
The contestant line-up for I’m A Celebrity..are: Strictly Come Dancing star Camilla Dallerup; former EastEnder Lucy Benjamin; ex-Page 3 model Sam Fox; one-time Mis-Teeq singer Sabrina Washington; How Clean Is Your House star Kim Woodburn; ex Hollyoaks actor Stuart Manning; Snooker whizz Jimmy White; Hollywood perma-tanned star George Hamilton; celebrity Italian chef Gino Dâ campo and interior designers and gay couple Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan. Hosts Ant and Dec will be back delivering their witty one-liners and taking great pleasure in dishing out bushtucker trials to whimpering celebrities.
ITV have warned the celebrities that this year will see the challenges push them to their limits in terms of endurance, both mentally and physically. And with tensions already simmering under the surface, bosses will no doubt be hoping that sparks will fly, making for hot viewing!
