Republicans lost the referendum in 1999. Why cant they just leave the rest of us alone!!! In fact the younger generations are less inclined to vote for a republic, most of the people ive spoken to think Australia is safer as a monarchy, as well as recent polls showing suppourt for a republic is lower amongst the younger generations.

How could you write that Crowe was lending his support to the republicans, when it is so obvious from everything he says that he supports the Monarchy?

That would coincide with previous statements indicating that he was against Australia becoming a republic.

In 1999 the Australian people voted 54% for and 46% against the Monarchy. Eleven years on the republicans haven't gained any ground. That's why Rudd does not take the risk of losing another referendum on the Monarchy.
