Priscilla has taken the West End by storm!
A musical version of the worldwide smash-hit movie The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert has taken the West End by storm.
Starring ex-Neighbours heart-throb Jason Donovan and the award-winning actor Tony Sheldon, the show has received rave reviews in the UK and in Australia, where it enjoyed an 11-month run at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre, before selling out a seven-month slot in Melbourne. Incredibly, close to a million Australian fans have now seen the show!
Now UK audiences are getting their chance to escape the doom and gloom of the credit crunch as the spectacular sing-along hits London. As in the original movie, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert tells the story of two drag queens and a transexual and their adventures in the Australian Outback as they head for a show in Alice Springs in their bus, Priscilla.
Unlike the AU$6.5 million stage show, the original movie was a low-budget affair that proved wildly popular when it was shown at Cannes, and it went on to win numerous awards and become a worldwide hit.
The musical looks set to be no less successful, with critics singing the praises of the show: “Makes Mamma Mia! look like Chekhov. Insanely euphoric… wildly contagious” said The Daily Telegraph, while The Guardian called it “Eye-poppingly extravagant.”
Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is running now at the Palace Theatre (Shaftesbury Avenue, London, W1V 8AY). To order tickets, call 0844 755 0016 now!
