Nigella will be cooking up a treat at the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.

British food goddess Nigella Lawson is to travel to Australia next year to take part in the annual Melbourne Food and Wine show.

She will be joined by one of Spain’s top female chefs Elena Arzak to celebrate ‘Women in the Kitchen’ which is one of three themes in the 2011 Chef Masterclass program. Women in the Kitchen will celebrate the huge achievements made by women in the kitchen.

Tributes will be paid to top female chefs, cooks, winemakers, restaurateurs and authors  who have risen through the ranks to become household names, as well as paying homage to the more traditional female roles in the kitchen, celebrating the role that mothers have played in dictating how and what we eat today.

Nigella of course is best known in the UK for her sensuous love of food in all its shapes and forms. She has become hugely influential in her own right, fronting the TV show ‘How to be a Domestic Goddess’ and ‘Nigella Bites’. She will be swapping recipes and ideas with Spanish chef Elena Arzak who runs the famous Arzak 4 Michelin star restaurant in the San Sebastian area of Spain along with her father Juan Mari.

The Melbourne Food and Wine Festival is a showcase of Australian food and wine that attracts some of the world’s biggest celebrities in the world of cookery and wine. The popular event runs for two weeks from the 4th to the 14th of March next year. Tickets are on sale from the 4th of October and they sell out quickly, so if you are planning a visit to Australia next year then get your ticket now through the Melbourne Food and Wine website and be part of the show!

I’m telling my wife I’m going early to the Formula 1 event, but actually it’s to see the goddess Nigella. Could be dangerous – if Nigella flashes her beautiful eyes at me I might have a heart attack! Still, it’s worth the risk.
