Firefighters are currently working to contain a blaze in Western Australia
Firefighters are currently fighting a blaze that is threatening homes and lives in the Western Australian resort of Yallingup, where an estimated 20 hectares of bushfire are ablaze.
At roughly 6.50pm Australian time, Fire and Emergency Services reported that they were working to consolidate defences on the southern boundary of the fire, and will be working into the night to contain the blaze and reduce the risk to the area.
The Fire and Rescue Service and volunteer Bush Fire Brigade crews started battling the blaze at 4pm, and were being supported from the air by two water bombers.
To date there have been no reports of damage to property or injuries to locals, but roads remain closed and power outages have hit the resort and surrounding area.
Drivers and residents have been urged to be extremely cautious.
The blaze comes nearly two months after the devastating fires of February 7th, which left more than 200 people dead and 10,000 homeless.
