Shocking revelations that Kevin Rudd is not always so cheerful!
Australia’s Prime Minister Kevin Rudd refused to apologise over his foul-mouthed tirade in front of Labour Party colleagues at a meeting in his Canberra office.
Mr Rudd was meeting the eight Labour Party members, including three women, to discuss MPs’ allowances when he launched into his colourful language, calling them “f***ers and telling one astonished colleague that he could “get f***ed.
His colourful language prompted the Times to compare him with foul-mouthed chef Gordon Ramsey.
But Mr Rudd refused to apologise, saying that the strong language was in order to get his point across forcefully. “It’s fair to say, consistent with the traditions of the Australian Labour Party, we’re given to robust conversations, he stated when questioned about the incident by US reporters.
The Australian Finance Minister Lindsay Tanner also dismissed suggestions that any of the eight colleagues would have been upset or perturbed by someone swearing at them.
It’s not the first time that Mr Rudd’s language has come under criticism. He was mocked for his usage of Australian colloquial language during a television interview with Sky News in June when he used the phrase: “Fair shake of the sauce bottle, mate. Even fellow Australians were debating over the true meaning of the phrase, with some suggesting that it meant ‘give us a fair go’, others arguing that Mr Rudd got the phrase wrong and it should be ‘suck’ instead of ‘shake’.
Perhaps Mr Rudd was trying to find some common ground with his voters?
