Australian visa points shake-up by DIAC.
The Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship have been promising a reform on the immigration points system and today that reform is revealed.
The DIAC website has now listed the new SOL and State Sponsored Occupation Lists which will affect many new applicants wishing to migrate to Australia.
The new Skilled Occupation List will fully replace the old CSL on the 1st of July and the occupations that will be State sponsored will also come into effect on this date. It would appear that the occupations listed in Schedule Four will be the occupations that are able to be state sponsored, however DIAC have also indicated that each state will be further allowed another 100 places for “off-list” occupations which are yet to be announced.
The document, for those who click on the link provided, largely contains legal jargon for the first 4 pages, but if you are a new applicant who wants to know how the list will affect you then scroll down to page 5 where the points allocated for each occupation will be revealed in Schedule One.
The new SOL begins on page 29 at Schedule Three and the State Sponsored List is revealed on page 37 (Schedule Four). It is this list that states will probably use to compile their own State Migration Plans, as well as a little flexibility in the further 100 off-list occupations that they can add to fully represent labour shortages in their own specific areas – although this is yet to be confirmed by DIAC.
The list should give new applicants an idea of how points their chosen occupation will give them and also a broad idea of which occupations will be included in the State Migration Plans.
This list is now being discussed in our own embrace community. Should you require further information, take a look at our Australian visa guide to discover which visa is right for you.
