Boomerang your way to Australia.
Tourism Australia has today launched the Great Boomerang Throw – a global game of ‘pass it on’ using Facebook that could net you a fantastic holiday to Australia including a month’s work placement at the famous Prairie Hotel amid the stunning backdrop of the South Australian outback.
The rules of the game are very simple, users throw a virtual boomerang to their friends who in turn throw it to their friends. The user with the longest chain of throws wins! You can even chart the progress of your boomerang on a global map.
The game is certain to be a surefire hit amongst young people who make up most of Facebooks users. The chance to get an Australian working visa will also prove to be a tempting lure as more young people than ever before take up the chance of a working holiday in Australia.
The lucky winner not only gets the golden ticket in the form of a working visa AND a placement in the hotel that has been used in such films as Kate Winslet’s Holy Smoke, but they also get an incredible holiday to boot.
Some of the activities included in the prize are; swimming with dolphins at Adelaide’s Glenelg beach; a Groovy Grape wine tour in the famous Barossa Valley, noted for its excellent wines and a few days to relax and take in the sights of Kangaroo Island that is positively teeming with wildlife.
The competition is part of a wider promotion by Tourism Australia to advertise the benefits of a working holiday visa. Many young people may be put off travelling to Australia because they think the supposed cost and inconvenience of obtaining a visa, but it really couldn’t be more straightforward. You can apply online in less than half an hour at a cost of just £140 – a bargain when you consider that your visa is then eligible for a 12 month stay in Australia. Where else would you get a 12 month holiday for £140?
We’ve produced a guide for all you would-be backpackers out there heading to Australia. It contains all the best information on where to go, where to stay and how to get there including travellers tips. So even if you don’t win the prize, you could apply now and be enjoying Christmas in Australia!

A boomerang is a curved piece of wood used as a weapon and for sport. Boomerangs come in many shapes and sizes depending on their geographic or tribal origins and intended function.
