Win a starring role in Australian soap Neighbours.

A hugely popular Australian soap opera is searching for a British star to travel to Australia and be their newest face in the series.

As far as Australian soaps go there is one which truly has the title ‘Queen of the Soaps’; a series that launched one of the world’s most successful female solo artists as well as providing a launch-pad for her handsome side-kick to star in many West End musicals. This series has travelled well across the globe, proving a hit in the UK as well as Australia. That series can only be – Neighbours.

Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Anne Haddy, Alan Dale, Tom Oliver, Stefan Dennis and Ian Smith who played Harold Bishop are just a few of the many famous past and present Neighbours stars and now you could be joining them!

Five have launched a YouTube competition to search for a British guest star of the iconic soap. Female fans are asked to audition for the role of Poppy Rogers who will play a friend of character Mal Kennedy. An audition script can be downloaded from the Five website and fans can then upload their entries onto a special YouTube channel.

The entries will be whittled down to five and in June the public will get to vote for their favourite of the five audition clips. The winner will be announced on Live from Studio Five at the end of June.

The winner will be flying to Australia to spend five weeks filming in sunny Melbourne, one of the hippiest places to be in Australia. When you’re not filming you’ll be free to see the many sights that Melbourne has to offer including The Royal Arcade – a shoppers paradise – and the Eureka Tower, the tallest building in Australia, not to mention the glorious golden sandy beaches. You’ll fall in love so much with this city that you won’t want to return home, so just in case entrants had better read our guide to emigrating to Australia!

It is not the first time that Neighbours has had a British influence, the cast have travelled from Australia to the UK for special British episodes such as in 1990 when Lyme Park was used as a location for the setting of the Ledgerwood estate starring the late Derek Nimmo. London was also the place where Susan and Karl Kennedy were married, on a boat in the river Thames.

So if you want to enter the competition to be the British face of Neighbours and perhaps its next big star, log onto the Five website and get rehearsing those lines! Best of luck!
