The employee was browsing pics of model Miranda Kerr.
Viewers of an Australian news station got rather more than they bargained for yesterday when an interview clip showed an employee looking at nude women on his pc in the background.
Seven News in Australia were doing a piece on interest rates in Australia and as part of the piece, the anchorwoman interviewed Martin Lakos, a wealth adviser for Macquarie Private Wealth. The interview went on for a couple of minutes with Mr Lakos speculating on what will happen with the interest rates in Australia.
All seemed well enough until one of the employees with his back to the camera but his pc in full view, started to look at images of the model Miranda Kerr in semi-naked poses. Three different pictures were shown on his pc before the hapless employee turned around and realised his mistake. The smile on the face of the anchorwoman would indicate that the blunder had not been lost on her.
The clip is now proving to be a huge hit on YouTube, putting the poor employee in even deeper trouble than he was already in and embarrassing bosses at Macquarie who have taken a less than humourless stance.
“Macquarie takes matters such as the unacceptable use of technology extremely seriously,” a spokesman told The Australian newspaper. “Macquarie has strict policies in place surrounding the use of technology and the issue arising from today’s live cross on 7 News is being dealt with internally.”
Oh dear, it makes you feel sorry for the unlucky employee! Still he isn’t the only one to have been caught with his pants down during a live feed. In 2006 BBC News 24 famously interviewed a rather confused Guy Goma - a business graduate who’d come for a job interview – thinking he was a journalist from Newswire and in Adelaide Seven News got unlucky again when a prepared clip wouldn’t show so the anchorwoman crossed over to sport, however the sports anchor guy wasn’t ready and he had to quickly race to his chair and mic up in order to present the latest sports news.
You can see the unfortunate interview here courtesy of YouTube. The employee which Maquarie are declining to name, is understood to be meeting with his superiors in order to determine his future at the company. Come on guys, give the poor fella a break! It’s provided plenty of us with entertainment and certainly livened up what would have been a mundane feature on bank interest rises.
