The giant Robosaurus in action - hang on, is that our car?
The Sydney Royal Easter Show has eschewed fluffy Easter bunnies this year for a car-eating, fire-breathing giant Robosaur.
This 12 metre tall monster makes mincemeat out of cars – chewing them up and spitting them out for breakfast. He gets through around 6 cars a day and with the show lasting 14 days, let’s hope the organisers of the event have plenty of supplies or visitors may be wondering why there’s a charred spot where their car was parked.
‘Robo’ to his friends will be the main attraction of this year’s Royal Easter Show in Sydney’s Olympic grounds. It took 30 high tech companies over two years to make the hydraulically powered monster and so far he’s proved to be a smashing success.
The 27,000 kilogram metal dinosaur immigrated to Australia from the US, but DIAC officials can relax, he’s on a temporary working visa providing entertainment to masses of Australians. Although if Australian immigration officials insist on seeing his visa they had better be warned, he has a fiery temper.
The General Manager of the Easter Show, Mr Michael Collins commented; “Robosaurus has made the long journey to Australia especially for this year’s Show. This is larger than life entertainment and Robosaurus’ only appearance in the country. Simply put, there is nothing else like him in the world.”
There certainly isn’t, his jagged metal teeth have 24,000 pounds of bite force – 30 times stronger than that of a great white shark. No wonder he seems to rip cars apart with such ease before incinerating them to charred bits of metal with his fiery breath. I wonder if he’s tried mouthwash?
Robosaurus is just one in a spectacular line up of events in the Easter Show this year that includes Toyota Hilux Heroes stunt drivers, the Sydney Royal Rodeo Series, the XXXL Rollercoaster and plenty of other activities to get your teeth into. The show starts today and carries on until the 14 April. Just remember to park your car right at the back, out of sight!
